Individual
I offer one-on-one individual psychotherapy sessions for children, adolescents, and adults. Sessions range from 45min-55min and are typically held once or twice weekly. Following a comprehensive evaluation, I will share my impressions and develop a tailored and collaborative treatment plan that meets your unique needs. My extensive training in several evidence-based interventions, as well as in psychodynamic psychotherapy, allows me to ensure a personalized approach that fits your goals for treatment. I focus heavily on creating a therapeutic space that feels comfortable and safe, while also providing you with insightful feedback and concrete skills that will help you to improve your life.
Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)
Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is an evidence-based therapy that was developed by Dr. Sheila Eyberg. PCIT is the most effective treatment for behavioral challenges in children. PCIT also leads to significant improvement in the lives of children who struggle with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Anxiety Disorders, and Selective Mutism. I am a PCIT Certified Trainer, which means I have obtained specialized training in both providing PCIT as a therapist and in training other therapists to implement PCIT. PCIT involves helping parents learn how to improve their relationship with their child through play while also learning tried-and-true parenting strategies. PCIT will help you learn how to set limits with your child, improve your child’s listening skills, and increase your confidence as a parent. By learning PCIT, you become your child’s therapist!
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is an evidence-based treatment that is effective in treating symptoms of several mental health conditions, including Anxiety, Depression, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. CBT can be used in treatment with children, adolescents, and adults. CBT focuses on helping one identify maladaptive thought cycles and learned patterns of behavior that keep them stuck. By improving one’s awareness of internal thoughts, feelings, and behavior, people can take small steps that lead to significant changes in their lives. I am trained in several CBT modalities, including Exposure and Response Prevention for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Trauma-Focused CBT (TF CBT) for treatment of trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based treatment that was developed by Dr. Marsha Linehan to treat emotional and interpersonal dysregulation. DBT is especially effective for adolescents and adults who struggle with managing their emotions, experience challenges in their relationships with friends, romantic partners, and family, and who engage in damaging behaviors, such as self-harm or substance use. I am a DBT certified therapist, which means I obtained certification through the DBT-Linehan Board of Certification to ensure that I meet the highest standards of delivery for the treatment. I provide individual DBT sessions for both adolescents and adults. I also help parents who are struggling with a challenging teen in learning DBT strategies to help improve their relationship and communication with their teenager.
Gender and Sexuality
I am the co-founder of the Columbia Gender Identity Program at Columbia University Medical Center, where I served as the Clinical Director for several years. I have spent most of my career working with members of the LGBTQ+ community and focusing on LGBTQ+ Mental Health. My work is centered on creating a space in which individuals can explore and embrace their identity and learn to navigate sexual and gender minority stress.
I am also a member of the World Professional Association of Transgender Health and have years of experience working with transgender and nonbinary children, adolescents, and adults and their families. I utilize an affirming approach that centers the needs of each specific child or individual and their family. I am also well-versed in collaborative care coordination and in working with various medical professionals to ensure access to gender affirming medical interventions.
